Job Description
My client is a small business with over 35 years of expertise in manufacturing and engineering development services. They are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and enhance operational standards at their state-of-the-art facility in Stirling, NJ. Reporting directly to the company president, this key leadership role will develop and implement quality control procedures, analyze performance metrics, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001 / AS9100).
You will collaborate closely with corporate leadership to uphold the QA system, maintain process integrity, and secure consistent, high-quality deliverables for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Compliance: Oversee all inspection activities (incoming, in-process, and final) to ensure parts, assemblies, and materials meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Equipment Calibration: Manage calibration of measuring and test equipment in line with the Intertek Calibration Plan and applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD-45662A).
- Supplier & Purchasing Oversight: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure purchased parts meet requirements, maintain an approved source list, and verify that specifications and quality clauses are reflected in purchase orders.
- Material Control: Verify incoming materials, assign sampling plans, maintain lot control, and ensure proper storage and documentation throughout production.
- Process Documentation: Establish and maintain documentation for manufacturing work instructions, inspection checkpoints, and deviation handling to uphold quality standards at each stage.
- Quality Systems Management: Enforce adherence to Intertek’s Quality Control Manual and relevant certifications (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100), ensuring all procedures align with industry best practices and legal requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in quality management or assurance roles; at least 5 years in manufacturing processes, production, or administration.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of quality control procedures, legal standards, and ISO 9001; familiarity with supply chain management and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma).
- Technical Skills: Strong project management, proficiency in Google Suite and presentation/training tools, excellent analytical skills for trend analysis and continuous improvement.
- Soft Skills: Leadership, team management, effective communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in quality management/assurance.
- Familiarity with electronic hardware, PCBs, or automated test equipment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or similar practices.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100 (2016), or other quality standards.
- Experience with quality system audits or certifications.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Onsite manufacturing facility with moderate machinery noise.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to move around, lift/move items up to 30 lbs, remain stationary as needed.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), onsite, with possible extended hours or weekend work.
