Job summary

A leading sweetener company in the UK is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and improve their Food Safety and Quality Management System. Responsibilities include leading audits, managing customer complaints, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and in-depth knowledge of food safety regulations. Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety standards, HACCP principles.
  • Experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
  • Lead and participate in GMP and internal audits.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Manage customer complaints and conduct investigations.
  • Maintain and enhance the Food Safety plan (HACCP).
  • Drive continuous improvement as the site QA lead.
  • Manage the quality department’s paperless records system.
  • Administer CAPA, Non-conformance, and Hold logs.
  • Collect and submit samples for analysis.
  • Provide training on site quality standards.

Job description

The purpose of the Quality Assurance Manager role is to initiate quality improvements within T&L Sugars, leveraging experience in the food and/or sugar industry to define best practices and anticipate customer and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and maintaining the Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring procedures are current and documentation is regularly reviewed.
  • Leading and participating in GMP and internal audit programs, working with site operations to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Supporting internal, customer, and regulatory audits such as BRCGS, Organic, Halal/Kosher.
  • Managing customer complaints, ensuring investigations are completed timely, and analyzing root cause trends.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the Food Safety plan (HACCP), delivering relevant training, and supporting production to elevate standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement as the QA site lead, challenging the status quo, and pursuing quality enhancements.
  • Managing quality records and conducting traceability exercises to ensure compliance.
  • Administering CAPA, Non-conformance, and Hold logs, ensuring effective incident resolution and coaching to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Collecting and submitting samples for analysis, ensuring escalation procedures are followed for out-of-spec results.
  • Providing training on site quality aspects as needed.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, or a related discipline.

Work Experience: Experience with BRCGS Food Safety certification, HACCP principles, customer quality codes, food manufacturing practices, and legislation. Experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is desirable.
