Quality Assurance Manager
Salary: up to £35,000 per year + company benefits
Location: Leeds
Hours: Monday to Friday, no weekends
The Opportunity
As Quality Assurance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all products meet UK legal, safety and customer-specific standards for our client.
Working cross-functionally with Product Development, Quality Control, Purchasing and Compliance, you’ll oversee regulatory requirements, support third-party certifications and ensure our clients Quality Management System is audit-ready and continuously improving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure company-wide compliance with UK product safety and chemical regulations including UKCA marking, Furniture & Furnishings Regulations (BS 7177), REACH and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)
- Support the creation and maintenance of all technical documentation related to mattresses, divans and headboards, ensuring products remain compliant throughout their lifecycle
- Lead the implementation of customer-specific compliance standards (e.g. DFS, John Lewis, Dreams) into product development and QA processes
- Maintain up-to-date testing schedules, declarations of compliance and ensure accurate and timely data submission through customer portals
- Guarantee that labelling and technical data align precisely with client and market specifications
- Support and maintain compliance with third-party schemes, including Bed Federation (NBF) accreditation
- Assist in the ongoing implementation of ISO 14001, ensuring product-level sustainability and environmental claims are accurate and substantiated
- Act as the lead contact for all external audits, ensuring audit readiness across the business
- Maintain, improve and document the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure continual ISO 9001 certification and compliance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings and internal reviews
- Collaborate daily with the Head of Compliance, New Product Development, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Production teams
- Provide regulatory and technical input during critical path reviews, product changes, and new product development stages
- Participate in change control assessments, evaluating the compliance impact of proposed material or component changes.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of UK product regulations and major UK retailer standards
- Proven experience in a quality, compliance or technical role, ideally within mattress manufacturing or a related industry
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 QMS and experience with ISO 14001 and environmental or sustainability compliance
- Understanding of European legislation such as the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
- Experience working with NBF standards is advantageous
- Strong communication skills; confident liaising with external auditors and retail clients
- Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and process-driven
