Job description

Benefits: 26% pension + Private Med + Discretionary bonus

Please note: This role does not offer sponsorship, candidates will require the correct right to work in the UK.

We’re looking for a hands-on QA Manager who enjoys being close to delivery while leading and getting the best from a testing team.

You’ll be involved in the day-to-day direction of testing, understanding current priorities, removing blockers and making the decisions needed to keep delivery moving. While you won’t be personally executing test scripts, you’ll remain close enough to the detail to challenge, support and direct the team effectively. The focus is firmly on practical, near term improvements rather than long range strategy. You’ll help shape what quality and testing need to look like over the coming months, guide teams through UAT and acceptance, and ensure releases are successfully delivered into production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and coordinate day-to-day QA and testing delivery
  • Review test scope, test plans, coverage and approach, ensuring testing is appropriate for each release.
  • Take a leading role across UAT and acceptance, working directly with business users to guide the process, manage issues and drive testing through to sign-off.
  • Manage the testing lifecycle end-to-end, from planning and acceptance through to successful production release.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to QA/Test Engineers responsible for manual and automated testing, without being expected to execute test scripts personally.
  • Manage, support and unblock testers day-to-day, proactively resolving delivery obstacles such as environment, security, infrastructure or capacity issues by engaging the right teams.
  • Keep testing activity moving across multiple stakeholders and be comfortable challenging, escalating and driving actions through to resolution where required.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, business and technology teams to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Maintain a practical, delivery-focused QA roadmap, with emphasis on the next three months and upcoming releases, rather than creating long-term strategies in isolation.
Key Requirements
  • Strong experience operating as a QA Manager, Test Manager or Test Lead in a player-manager capacity.
  • Proven experience managing testers while remaining closely involved in the day-to-day delivery of testing.
  • Strong experience with test planning, test scope, governance and coordinating testing within Agile/sprint-based delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience leading UAT.
  • Experience managing end to end testing phase
  • Strong people management skills, with the confidence to chase dependencies, escalation issues and hold teams/stakeholders accountable for actions.
  • Experience working within an end-user environment
  • Good understanding of test automation, with experience managing or overseeing engineers responsible for building and maintaining automated tests.
  • Strong exposure to data, API and backend testing.
  • Comfortable operating across systems where quality extends beyond purely UI/front-end testing.
  • Financial Services experience is beneficial but not essential.
