Job summary

LGC ASSURE, part of the SSAS team, seeks an experienced Quality Assurance Lead to embed quality across scientific operations. You will support diverse teams, streamline accreditation requirements, and lead improvement initiatives that strengthen our QMS and overall efficiency.

This role involves auditing, investigations, corrective actions, and risk assessments, with a focus on practical, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems and accreditation requirements.
• Experience leading audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activity.
• Quickly grasp different teams, processes, and requirements, adjusting approach accordingly.
• Experience implementing or improving quality systems, ideally with exposure to digital QMS solutions.
• Strong project management skills and cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted quality partner across SSAS, providing expert guidance on compliance, risk, and continuous improvement.
• Support multiple scientific and operational teams, adapting approach to different requirements and challenges.
• Lead improvement initiatives that strengthen our Quality Management System and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Interpret accreditation requirements and translate them into practical solutions for teams.
• Deputise for the ISO 17025 Quality Manager and support the development of our accredited quality framework.
• Collaborate with teams and external accreditation bodies, coordinating work to ensure successful outcomes.
• Assess improvement actions by criticality, severity, and business impact to prioritise effectively.
• Lead audits, root cause investigations, corrective actions, risk assessments, and change control activities.
• Support development and optimisation of our electronic Quality Management System (eQMS).
• Find opportunities to improve processes through technology and smarter ways of working, including SharePoint and digital quality tools.
• Coach and support colleagues from junior to senior levels.

At LGC ASSURE, everything we do is driven by one purpose: Science for a Safer World. As part of our Sports & Specialised Analytical Services (SSAS) team, you’ll be joining an internationally recognised laboratory at the forefront of anti-doping and banned substance testing. Our work spans animal sports medication, human drug testing, and dietary supplement certification.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Lead to join our team and play a key role in shaping how quality is embedded across our scientific operations.

This is not a traditional compliance role. You will support diverse scientific teams, each with their own challenges, requirements, and ways of working. One day you could be supporting a specialist analytical testing team with complex accreditation requirements; the next, partnering with operational support teams to strengthen processes and improve how we work.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on solving problems, and has the confidence to challenge existing thinking. You will be the person who helps teams move from “we can’t do that” to “how can we make that work?”

What you’ll be doing
