Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a quality assurance engineer to strengthen software quality processes across missile programs. The role focuses on following procedures, audits, risk identification, and reporting within the Product Assurance Software Quality team.

Based in Bristol with hybrid working (2–4 days on-site), the post offers a salary circa 40,000–50,000 GBP and a strong benefits package including pension and flexible leave.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate holds an engineering degree or equivalent experience and understands new technologies.
• Experience with software quality processes and standards is desirable.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence change.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead Project Quality Assessments and identify risks and issues.
• Provide recommendations and contribute to monthly QA reports.
• Assist UK Engineering Directorate's software teams to ensure high-quality weapon systems.

What we're looking for from you:

The position centres on maintaining software quality by following procedures and guidelines. Experience in software development, full life cycle, and quality assurance; applicants from a diverse set of backgrounds and industries are encouraged. Knowledge of software processes including national and international standards and assurance requirements. Auditing experience would be advantageous. Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across all programmes. Collaborative but objective approach with an ability to influence change when required. Ability to lead Project Quality Assessments, identify risks and critical issues and provide recommendations to monthly reports. Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Remain calm under pressure and cope well with unexpected changes. Work independently as part of a functional and integrated team. Ideally have an Engineering Degree or equivalent experience, with an understanding of new and appropriate technologies or proven experience. Experience or knowledge of configuration management, documentation and requirements management systems is highly beneficial.

We have an opportunity that has arisen within our Bristol based Product Assurance Software Quality team for an engineer to further develop their quality assurance skills by being part of the wider Product Assurance community within MBDA.

Salary: Circa 40,000 - 50,000 depending on experience

Location: Bristol

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification
