Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc in Westhill, Aberdeen, seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure quality across products, projects and services—from contract review through manufacture, testing and through-life support. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective quality controls and evidence of compliance.

Ideal candidates will have a QA or engineering qualification, strong ISO 9001 and auditing experience, and a background in a defence or highly regulated

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Quality, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience with quality training.
• Proven QA experience in manufacturing/engineering with production, inspection and traceability.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, quality planning and auditing principles.
• Experience managing non-conformances and verifying corrective actions.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and quality documentation.
• Analytical, problem-solving skills and cross-functional communication.
• Experience in defence or other highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of supplier assurance, AQAP standards, audit practices and electronic QMS/ERP.

Responsibilities

• Support contract and project reviews to identify quality requirements, risks and acceptance criteria, developing and maintaining Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
• Review milestone and release documentation, including configuration records, material traceability, inspection results and objective evidence.
• Support inspections, test witnessing and customer acceptance activities, escalating gaps against requirements.
• Work with Production and Engineering to embed quality controls in manufacturing and testing processes.
• Support supplier evaluations, audits and performance reviews, following up on non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Facilitate investigations, containment activities and root cause analysis, verifying action effectiveness.
• Analyse quality trends and data to support continuous improvement and reduce defects.
• Conduct internal and supplier audits and assist with customer and certification audits.
