Job Description

At CareScribe, we’re building innovative assistive technology that empowers people to access the world and level the playing field. Our products are used by thousands of people worldwide every day, helping to create a more inclusive society. Learn more at carescribe.io.

What we do

Our mission is to make workplaces and education more accessible by providing innovative tools that remove communication barriers.

Our products, Caption.Ed, a captioning and note-taking software, and TalkType, a dictation software, are designed to support neurodivergent or disabled people in work and learning environments, reducing anxiety and boosting confidence and productivity.

Where you come in

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in our mission to use assistive technology to create inclusive spaces within education and the workplace. Your work will directly impact the quality, reliability, and accessibility of our products ensuring they meet the highest standards for the people who rely on them most.

You’ll be joining a collaborative, cross-functional team of QA Engineers, Developers, Product Managers, Designers, and Customer Support. Together, you’ll help build and maintain products that are robust, inclusive, and user-friendly. From planning and testing to problem-solving and raising bugs, you’ll be involved at every stage of the development process to ensure quality is considered from the very beginning.

You’ve already built up a foundation in QA and are ready to take on broader challenges. You’ll bring curiosity to dig deeper, a sharp eye for detail, and a strong empathy for the end user, especially those who face barriers in traditional tech environments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out QA across multiple streams to the highest level and having a passion to find ways to break our software (in a good way!)
  • Collaborating with Engineers, Product Managers and working closely with our Senior QA Engineer to make sure our product is of the highest quality
  • Taking part in three amigos sessions, primarily focused on creating test plans
  • Reviewing bug reports and raising clear, well documented tickets with replication steps
  • Testing for a range of issues, including web accessibility problems
  • Working in a fast paced Agile Scrum environment
  • Using tools like Linear to track work and test plans, and maintaining our reusable test suite in BrowserStack
  • Maintaining and building upon our automated testing suite

About You

You don’t need to tick every box, but here’s what we think will help you thrive in this role:

  • You’re comfortable switching between different projects and priorities without losing focus
  • You can write clear, logical test plans and communicate your findings in a way that others can act on
  • You’ve got a curious mindset and love thinking about how users might interact with our products, even in unexpected ways
  • You’re not just looking for bugs, you’re an advocate for quality and accessible experiences

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience identifying and reporting web accessibility issues in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Programming and Git knowledge
  • Familiarity with Browserstack or similar tools
  • Previous exposure to product development tool like Jira or Linear
  • Comfortable working with a range of stakeholders across the business

What we offer

The salary for this role ranges from £30,000 to £41,000 (depending on experience). You'll be based in our modern office next to Temple Meads Station, with two in-person days a week and flexible working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

We’re committed to fairness, transparency, and helping you thrive - supporting your growth with clear pathways, flexibility, and meaningful benefits.

Here’s a snapshot of what we offer:

  • Compensation Philosophy and Performance Framework
  • £250 annual learning allowance

  • Matched fundraising donations
  • Cycle to Work scheme
