The Quality Engineer provides support for the successful implementation of nuclear power projects at Holtec Britain. Projects encompass all phases of the project life cycle but will focus on engineering design projects. The Quality Engineer will be an effective communicator responsible for helping to shape and manage the development and deployment of the SMR quality assurance arrangements, processes, and systems to meet nuclear design code and regulatory requirements, best practices, configuration control, and quality excellence.

  1. Assist the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager by reinforcing, monitoring, and sustaining Quality standards, including policies on scope and retention requirements of QA documentation.
  2. Perform internal surveillances of internal processes to ensure compliance with Holtec’s Quality Assurance Program.
  3. Review specifications, procedures, and other documentation to verify compliance with technical QA requirements.
  4. Oversee vendor facilities to verify compliance with procurement documents and quality assurance requirements.
  5. Support the development and management of the quality assurance program, quality manuals, implementation plans, and key performance measures to meet design code and regulatory requirements.
  6. Support the development and management of programs, processes, governance, and systems.
  7. Interpret stakeholder and design code requirements, ensuring appropriate quality program and design code processes and governance are applied, with a focus on configuration control.
  8. Coach and assist management and teams to ensure quality assurance and design code requirements are understood and implemented.
  9. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies.
  10. Develop processes, procedures, and facilitate process mapping, problem-solving activities, and workshops.
  11. Create and review documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
  12. Support certification programs.
  13. Complete Holtec’s Quality Indoctrination within one month of joining and Holtec’s OJT training within six months.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
  • Desirable experience in the nuclear industry and ASME design code.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with experience managing and influencing engineering interfaces with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence in seeking support when needed.
