To coordinate and manage the School’s quality assurance processes ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external regulatory requirements. Lead and participate in a wide range of developmental and quality improvement initiatives associated with the enhancement of systems and processes, providing proactive support and guidance across the academic and professional services team and wider stakeholders including institutional and/or Group projects as appropriate.
Key purpose of the role
- Oversee and manage the annual and periodic quality assurance schedule including the internal and external validation and periodic review schedule and regulatory submissions ensuring these are completed on schedule and to the required standard.
- Liaise with other departments and management team to facilitate the smooth planning, organisation and scheduling of activities before and during the Academic Year.
- Secretary to Academic Board, the Quality Committee and any other designated committees and working groups undertaking a wide range of tasks involved in coordinating the schedule of business including agenda setting, minute taking, and compiling papers, a wide range of papers, reports, policy and procedural documentation.
- Act as the institutional liaison officer to relevant external organisations including as the designated quality contact with external validating bodies.
- Maintain and oversee a wide range of institutional registers and documents including maintaining the institutional Quality Assurance Handbook and related policy documentation including developing, reviewing, updating and compiling a wide range of policy and procedural information and guidance.
- Provide direct support for institutional projects and external submissions.
- Lead and contribute to a wide range of workshops, briefings and training events on quality related matters.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties including supporting institutional activities such as graduation and welcome week.
Education and skills
- Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree is desirable
- Previous experience working in a similar role in UK higher education
- People management experience
- Ability to prioritise own workload and co-ordinate tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with previous experience of minuting formal committees, preferably also including as Secretary to validation and review panels or their equivalent.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of applying the QAA Quality Code and OfS regulatory requirements relating to quality and standards.
- Ability to analyse a wide range of complex information and data and provide accurate high-level summaries
