Role Overview Quality and Environmental Technician

This role is to perform day-to-day functions consistent with the requirements of the quality management system with particular focus on environmental to ensure that the business remains compliant.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the business understands and is compliant with all current legislation and that any changes to legislation are captured within our Environmental Management Systems.
  • Ensure that any such changes are effectively communicated throughout the entire business and that any related records are retained as evidence of compliance.
  • Audit our compliance using our own systems whilst cross referencing the standard to ensure that we maintain our certification.
  • Understand changes to existing legislation and any new upcoming legislation and where the understanding is not clear seek professional support so that the business can be kept up to date with the ever-changing world. Ensure that the relevant actions are taken because of these changes.
  • Monitor the use of all materials within the business and provide the methods of control required for compliance and to protect the health and safety of our workforce. Ensure that the latest versions of material safety data sheets are available for reference should there be a situation requiring their support.
  • Complete customer requests for information relating to our environmental impact to support the bidding process.
  • Carry out goods inward inspection of bespoke items (fabrications, control cabinets, etc.) on Rapiscan site or supplier premises.
  • Support quality with in-process quality control inspections.
  • Log all instances of non-conformance.
  • Administer all nonconformity to closure or concession.
  • Manage all concessions and deviations arising from inspections.
  • Assist in the management of quarantined goods (MRB/RMA).
  • Raise Supplier Corrective Actions Requests (SCAR) and manage to resolution with the supplier.
  • Other Supplier Quality activities including visits.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in a quality control environment.
  • Must have a positive proactive attitude to work, be self-motivated, and have good literacy, numeracy, IT, and communication skills.
  • Literacy (minimum grade B at GCSE English, or equivalent).
  • Numeracy (minimum grade B at GCSE Maths, or equivalent).
  • IT skills (EUCDL, Clait or equivalent; or able to use Word and Excel competently).
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Clean driving Licence and own vehicle with business class insurance.
