Job description

SDUK's brands include the Nation's favourite cheese brand Cathedral City, along with other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients, and dairy-free products.

This position plays a key role within the site food safety and quality management team, responsible for tracking and monitoring data to identify and escalate trends to key stakeholders.

The role involves managing data from customer complaints, microbiological testing (both on-site and external assessments), and ensuring accurate documentation and records management through internal systems and external portals. The role also includes communicating information with external auditors (BRC/retailers).

You will manage and document the site food safety and quality management systems, ensuring systems and procedures facilitate the production of safe, legal, and authentic products that meet specified quality and food safety standards. You will also lead efforts to ensure adherence to the food safety agenda.

Key Contributions
  • Maintaining food safety and QMS in line with group standards and retailer requirements
  • Conducting verification activities (QMP, GMP, internal audits) and supporting investigations
  • Ensuring microbiological data is accurately recorded, analyzed for trends, and reports are generated and circulated to the technical team
  • Conducting routine traceability exercises to ensure system robustness and leading trace activities during audits
  • Supporting investigations of food safety-related customer complaints, foreign bodies, and third-party issues
  • Maintaining site GMP standards, food safety, and quality systems in line with SDUK and retailer standards
  • Maintaining BRC accreditation, retailer approvals, and certifications such as Red Tractor, Halal, and Kosher
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in a food safety/quality role with knowledge of BRC and retailer standards and audits
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends related to food complaints, quality, and micro assessments
  • Level 3 food hygiene certification (willing to train to Level 4)
  • Level 3 HACCP certification (willing to train to Level 4)
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to share data and analysis effectively with stakeholders
