Wrexham, Shropshire, Midlands Railway Qualified Train Drivers Needed

We are excited to invite qualified train drivers based in the London or North Wales area to join the Wrexham, Shropshire, Midlands Railway (WSMR) team as part of an innovative open access rail service connecting Wrexham and London Euston. We are now accepting applications of interest for our future driver talent pool.

Your Future Role

As a Qualified Train Driver, you will be central to our operations, ensuring the smooth running of our trains. We seek enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who will contribute to delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive trains safely, punctually, and economically in line with Rules & Regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with WSMR colleagues and railway interfaces.
  • Maintain adherence to operational schedules and safety standards.

Work Conditions:

  • Shifts include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and bank holidays, averaging 35 hours per week over a 24-hour period.
  • Candidates must reside within one hour of the depot.
  • Full uniform provided to embody our values and brand.

We are looking for candidates who can work independently, communicate effectively, and comfortably interact with both customers and colleagues. Organisational skills and effective concentration are crucial for this role.

Qualified Train Drivers should demonstrate a strong safety record and a passion for providing seamless service. Applicants must:

  • Currently work as a Qualified Mainline Driver for a train operating company.
  • Hold a current Train Driver’s Licence (TDCL).
  • Must have completed their Post Qualification period with your current Train Operating Company.
  • Demonstrate compliance with the Rail Industry Standard for Train Driver Selection (RIS –3751 – TOM).
  • Hold an impeccable safety record.
  • Have specific traction and route knowledge as required by depot needs.
