Job description

Job Title: Qualified Teaching Assistant - Secondary Schools
Location: Wigan
Start Date: September 2025
Daily Rate: 90 to 110 per day (dependant on experience)

Job Details:
We are looking to appoint a Qualified Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning across a range of secondary schools this September. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified TA who is passionate about making a positive difference in the classroom.

The Qualified Teaching Assistant role will involve working closely with classroom teachers, supporting pupils with a variety of needs, and helping to maintain a positive learning environment. Positions will vary from general in-class support to working 1:1 or in small intervention groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour

  • Provide targeted interventions for pupils with additional needs

  • Help prepare classroom materials and resources

  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a recognised TA qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3)

  • Has experience supporting students in a secondary school setting

  • Is proactive, flexible, and able to adapt to different environments

  • Is confident in building rapport with both students and staff

  • Has a valid enhanced DBS or is willing to apply for one
