Qualified Social Worker, Safeguarding Team

Pay rate to £39 per hour

Vitalis is recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to work in a Safeguarding Team in Bury. Bury requires 2 social workers for the family safeguarding team.

• Provide a professional social work service to children in need and their families in accordance with the principles of the Children Act.
• Undertake enquiries and assessments of children who are considered to have suffered or who may suffer significant harm. Make applications with the appropriate management and legal advice for Orders to safeguard children under the Children Act.
• Work in partnership with service users in various settings including the office, the service user’s premises, and other suitable locations for social work practice.
• Prepare written reports of a professional standard for use in various settings, including court proceedings.
• Act as a representative of the Local Authority at court, give verbal evidence at proceedings, and provide written evidence when required.
• Maintain client records in accordance with statutory and departmental requirements.
• Attend child protection conferences, statutory reviews, core groups, department meetings, and contribute professionally to proceedings.
• Represent the Local Authority when cases are transferred between authorities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of plans for children in need (child protection, looked after children, family support).
• Contribute to the efficiency and development of the social work team, attending and contributing to meetings.
• Provide cover for the Children and Families Social Work Teams when required.
• Work directly with service users employing a wide range of social work skills and techniques.
