Qualified Social Worker - Safeguarding, Birmingham

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom

Pay rate: £33.30 per hour

We are seeking experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team. You will work in a busy, supportive environment assessing and working with children and families, intervening early to provide support. Your responsibilities include conducting Section 47 Enquiries, progressing cases to Initial Safeguarding Conferences, and working on children in need cases with a focus on permanence planning from day one.

You will complete assessments directly with children and their families and collaborate with agencies such as police and health services to achieve positive outcomes. The service maintains strong links with our Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help colleagues to promote community support when social care intervention is no longer needed. Throughout, you will uphold and champion best practices.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, you will support the delivery of person-centered, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to build and maintain relationships with service users and partner agencies to meet identified needs. You will be committed to achieving positive, sustainable results and providing the best outcomes for children, with a passion for supporting their families to thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and operate efficiently.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Experience working with children and families, including vulnerable groups
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and issues
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement
  • Excellent mediation and negotiation skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills with children and families
  • Committed to high-quality service
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary, interagency work
  • Over 4 years qualified
