Qualified Social Worker – Duty & Assessment Team
Lancashire | £36 per hour | Flexible Locum Opportunity

Are you an experienced Qualified Social Worker passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and families? This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking Duty & Assessment Team within a well-regarded Lancashire local authority, known for its supportive culture and commitment to best practice.

About the Role
As a vital member of the Duty Team, you’ll respond to new referrals, complete timely assessments, and ensure children and families receive the right level of support from day one.
Your work will involve:
Carrying out Section 47 Enquiries and Child in Need assessments
Planning for permanence from initial contact
Collaborating with key partners – including health, education, and police
Connecting families with Integrated Prevention & Earliest Help services
Championing child-centred practice and positive, sustainable change

You’ll also benefit from monthly individual supervision, group reflective sessions, and the support of a highly experienced Team Manager who values team cohesion and continuous learning.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident, capable, and compassionate social worker who brings:
  • Social Work England registration
  • 4+ years post-qualifying experience
  • Strong knowledge of Child Protection legislation and safeguarding practices
  • Excellent assessment and planning skills
  • A collaborative approach to working across multi-agency settings
  • The ability to engage children and families with empathy, clarity, and purpose

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a fast-paced and varied caseload
  • Undertaking comprehensive risk assessments and formulating robust care plans
  • Supporting families through early intervention and crisis resolution
  • Upholding best practice and safeguarding standards
  • Mentoring students and less experienced staff
