Make a Difference Where It Matters Most

Are you a dedicated Qualified Social Worker with a passion for improving the lives of children with disabilities? Join a supportive and forward-thinking team in the North East, where your work will truly matter. In this Children with Disabilities Team, you’ll work directly with children and families to provide critical support and protection through Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court Proceedings cases. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your diary, with flexible working built around delivering exceptional outcomes and meeting statutory requirements.

About the Role

As part of this specialist team, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, child-centred social work to disabled children and their families.
  • Carry out assessments, develop care plans, and intervene effectively to reduce risk and promote wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and police.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with children, families, and professionals to promote sustainable, positive change.
  • Ensure that children are supported as early as possible — and helped to thrive, not just survive.

You’ll also play a key role in ensuring that children and young people transition smoothly through the system, including those moving toward independence from care.

About You

We’re looking for social work professionals who are:

  • Social Work England registered
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience (including work with CIN, CP, and court)
  • Confident in risk assessment, planning, and direct work with children
  • Skilled in building rapport and trust with children and families
  • Knowledgeable in child protection legislation and safeguarding practices
  • Passionate about inclusion, dignity, and equity for disabled children
  • Adaptable, creative, and solution-focused
  • Experienced in multi-agency working
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing a diverse caseload
  • Conducting child and family assessments
  • Creating tailored support plans that reflect the child’s needs and promote independence
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory responsibilities and best practice standards
  • Promoting early help, prevention, and local community support
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case records
