Job description

Qualified Social Worker

CAFCASS

Location: Wales

Pay rate: £41 per hour

We are looking for experienced and passionate Social Workers to join a dedicated CAFCASS team. This role offers hybrid working and is a minimum 6-month contract. Successful candidates must be experienced within court work.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care, you will support the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you’ll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills, you’ll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs. You’ll be committed to ensuring positive and sustainable outcomes of your interventions. Using best practices, you’ll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly, you’ll have a passion for supporting children and their families to thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possible.

In this role, the perfect candidate will:

  • Provide advanced social work-level services to children, families, and courts by assessing and analysing court applications for any child protection and serious welfare issues affecting a child or young person.
  • Influence those with parental responsibility to be more child-focused when needed and advise courts on how a child’s life can be improved, supporting judicial case management.
  • Keep the child at the centre of your work through high-quality direct work with children and families. You will need to be a skilled negotiator, working persuasively with family members and professionals.
  • Maintain the child’s timescale in the context of their journey through childhood and, where applicable, the care system. Advocate in the best interests of the child, ensuring their voice is heard in court.
  • Be a resilient, reflective, and accountable practitioner with good IT and organisational skills to handle a high volume of casework.
  • Able to travel into Wales occasionally.

Desirable skills

  • High standard of assessment and case analysis.
  • Ability to produce high-standard written work and communicate effectively with empathy.
  • Effective collaboration with professionals and agencies.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
  • Confident decision-making in high-conflict situations.
  • Achieve safe outcomes in areas of conflict.

The Perfect Candidate

  • Degree in Social Work with 3 years post-qualifying experience.
  • Full Social Work England registration.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

This is an agency post, and Pertemps offers:

  • A dedicated consultant with access to roles across the UK.
  • Online registration process.
  • Referral schemes and incentives.
  • Ongoing compliance management.
  • Prompt payroll and more.

This role is ideally suited for candidates traveling from various locations across the UK, including Nottingham, Derby, Coventry, Birmingham, and others listed in the original description.
