Location: West Midlands

Are you an experienced and passionate Qualified Social Worker looking for career progression? We are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join an Assessment Team. This is an exciting time to join this local authority in the West Midlands, especially as they celebrate their GOOD Ofsted status.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record, excellent report writing skills, and experience in court work, planning for permanency, and writing CPRs and Annex A. A strong background in parenting assessments, viability assessments, and producing robust evidence is essential. Excellent risk assessment abilities and outstanding written communication skills are also required.

We offer regular supervision, including monthly group reflective sessions.

As part of this dedicated team, you will work in a busy, supportive environment assessing and working with children and families, intervening early to provide support. Your work will involve direct assessments with children and families, partnering with agencies such as police and health services to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes. The service maintains strong links with our Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help colleagues to promote community support.

In this role, you will support social care legislation and local government requirements, delivering person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions, establishing and maintaining relationships with service users and other agencies to meet their needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Experience working with children and families, including vulnerable groups
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking approach
  • Knowledge of Child Protection legislation and issues
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent mediation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with children and families
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary, interagency settings
  • 4+ years qualified experience
