Qualified Social Worker – Adults Learning Disabilities – Location: North East England
Pay Rate: £27 per hour

Are you an experienced and compassionate Qualified Social Worker with a passion for supporting adults with Learning Disabilities? We’re looking for a committed professional to join a dedicated Adults Learning Disabilities Team in the North East, working for a forward-thinking local authority. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults with complex needs while working in a supportive, collaborative, and person-centred environment.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and empowering adult social care services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out Care Act assessments, support planning, and capacity assessments
  • Managing a diverse caseload of adults with learning disabilities, often with complex needs
  • Working closely with health professionals, ICB teams, and attending Continuing Healthcare (CHC) panels and funding discussions
  • Engaging in safeguarding triage and enquiries
  • Preparing Court of Protection applications when necessary
  • Promoting independence, dignity, and choice for every individual
  • Working in line with statutory duties and local procedures

This is a busy frontline role that demands a high level of organisation, resilience, and empathy — but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Experienced in Learning Disabilities services and adult social care
  • Confident in undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments and understanding CHC frameworks
  • Skilled at managing a complex caseload with competing priorities
  • Knowledgeable of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Safeguarding Adults procedures
  • An effective communicator who can build strong, meaningful relationships with service users, families, and partner agencies
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
