Qualified Social Worker - Duty and Assessment

Location: Merseyside

Pay rate: £46 per hour

We are looking for experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join a dedicated Duty and Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our client's social work team in Merseyside. You will be supported by an experienced team manager. Our client has a strong and positive culture in this Merseyside local authority, which we would love you to be a part of. This role offers regular monthly supervision and group reflective supervision.

As part of this team, you will be working in a busy and supportive environment assessing and working with children and families, intervening where children need support to provide earlier help. Child and Family Assessment work directly with children and their families, partnering with agencies including police and health to ensure the best outcomes with sustainable positive change. The service maintains a strong link with Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help colleagues to promote community support when social care involvement is no longer needed.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, you will support the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions. Your social work experience and communication skills will help establish and maintain relationships with service users and agencies to meet their needs.

You will be committed to achieving positive and sustainable results for your interventions, striving to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly, you will have a passion for supporting children and families to thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the vulnerable and operate efficiently.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Experience working with children and families, including vulnerable groups
  • Experience in Court, Children in Need, and Child Protection
  • Supporting CIN and Child Protection planning, pre-proceedings, and court proceedings
  • Understanding factors impacting children, including abuse and neglect
  • Ability to undertake Child & Family Assessments with effective analysis, decision-making, planning, and review
  • Effective direct work with children and families
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking approach
  • Knowledge of Child Protection legislation and issues
  • Continuous improvement mindset to provide the best outcomes
  • Excellent mediation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with children and families
  • Committed to high-quality service delivery
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary, interagency settings
  • At least 2 years of qualified experience
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of risks, protection, and social care needs
  • Manage an agreed caseload
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Develop individual care plans respecting diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment
