Job description

With previous experience from the NHS or private care, you can join the multidisciplinary team at Chadwick Lodge in Milton Keynes, which has a strong emphasis on teamwork. You will provide care for service users detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) with a history of offending behaviour.

As a Social Worker, you will manage a complex caseload, conduct social care and risk assessments, facilitate group activities, and contribute to ICR meetings, supporting service users in planning their futures.

You will report to the Lead Social Worker, manage internal investigations, liaise with home authorities during admission and discharge, and have access to training opportunities to support your career growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Making referrals to the Local Authority in line with safeguarding policies
  • Collaborating with MAPPA
  • Presenting reports in formal settings such as First Tier Tribunals and Hospital Managers Hearings
  • Educating hospital staff on safeguarding matters
  • Completing annual social care reassessments within the CPA framework
  • Facilitating access to welfare rights, housing, advocacy, and support services
  • Participating in 1:1 supervision sessions

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Social Work England registration
  • A Social Work degree
  • Completion of the ASYE programme
  • At least 2 years of post-qualifying experience
  • Experience in Forensic, Criminal Justice, or Mental Health settings

Location:
Chadwick Drive (off Saxon Street), Eaglestone, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK6 5LS

You will work at Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View, providing specialist treatment in medium and low secure services for detained service users. The programmes aim to reduce re-offending risks and improve quality of life, with a multidisciplinary team experienced in forensic psychiatry.
