Qualifications

Job description

As a Social Worker, you can be the reason why lives change for the better, helping some of the most vulnerable people gain a brighter future.

With previous experience from the NHS or private care, you can join the multidisciplinary team at Chadwick Lodge in Milton Keynes, which has a strong emphasis on teamwork. You will provide care for service users detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) with a history of offending behaviour.

As a Social Worker, you will manage a complex caseload, conducting social care and risk assessments, facilitating group activities, and contributing to ICR meetings, supporting service users in planning their futures.

You will report to the Lead Social Worker, manage internal investigations, liaise with home authorities during admission and discharge, and have access to training opportunities to support your career growth and aspirations.

As a Social Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Referring to Local Authorities in line with safeguarding and assessments
  • Working closely with MAPPA
  • Presenting reports in formal settings such as First Tier Tribunals and Hospital Managers Hearings
  • Educating hospital staff about safeguarding
  • Completing annual social care reassessments within the CPA framework
  • Facilitating access to welfare rights, housing, advocacy, and support services
  • Participating in 1:1 supervision

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Social Work England registration
  • A Social Work degree
  • Completed ASYE programme
  • At least 2 years post-qualifying experience
  • Experience in forensic, criminal justice, or mental health settings

Where you will be working:

Location: Chadwick Drive (off Saxon Street), Eaglestone, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK6 5LS

You will work at Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View, providing specialist treatment in medium and low secure services for detained service users. The services offer evidence-based therapeutic interventions, involving service users at every stage. The multidisciplinary team has extensive clinical and research experience in forensic psychiatry, aiming to reduce re-offending risks and improve quality of life.

Chadwick Lodge cares for individuals with complex mental illnesses, helping them stabilize and transition to community settings when possible.
