We are looking for experienced and passionate Social Workers to join a dedicated Family Support Team. As part of this Local Authority's Family Support Team Service, you will have a passion for making a difference to children. The Family Support Team manages a caseload of children on the Child Protection Register, children requiring Care and Support, and Children in Care Proceedings. This role has been created through significant investment to increase capacity and promote resilience and stability. As a Social Worker within this local authority, you will benefit from a manageable workload, excellent support, and ample time to spend with children and young people.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, and guided by the values and principles of social care, you will support the delivery of person-centred, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience, you will make assessments and decisions about appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills, you will establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.

You will be committed to ensuring positive and sustainable outcomes from your interventions. Using best practices, you will strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly, you will have a passion for supporting children and their families to thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and operate as efficiently as possible.

Ideal candidate will be:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Experienced in working with children and families, including vulnerable groups
  • Creative, flexible, and forward-thinking in approach
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and child protection issues
  • Committed to continuous improvement to achieve the best outcomes for children
  • Excellent at mediation and negotiation on behalf of service users
  • Skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Dedicated to providing high-quality services
  • Experienced in working within a multi-disciplinary, interagency environment
  • Over 4 years qualified

In this role, you will:

  • Use your skills, knowledge, and experience to assess risks, protection, and social care needs
  • Manage an agreed caseload
  • Employ specialist communication skills to achieve optimal outcomes for service users
  • Devise individual care plans, considering diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment
  • Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students for their development
