Job Description

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Retrofit & Refurbishment

Location: Cardiff – Site Based

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + Package

We are working with a specialist contractor delivering retrofit and fabric upgrade projects across South Wales. They are now looking to appoint a Qualified Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction, refurbishment, or void contracts to take full commercial ownership across a range of schemes.

This is a site-based role suited to a proactive QS who thrives on autonomy and can drive value from tender through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and control all financial and contractual aspects of retrofit projects
  • Measurement, pricing, and evaluation of tenders
  • Lead projects from inception to completion with full commercial accountability
  • Identify opportunities to increase margin and reduce risk
  • Produce and manage cost plans, budgets, and CVRs
  • Handle subcontract procurement, management, and payment
  • Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment
  • Develop and maintain subcontractor and supplier contracts
  • Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety and regulatory standards

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification (HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in commercial management within construction – retrofit/fabric upgrades
  • Skilled in using bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and D&B contracts
  • Confident in managing both direct and subcontract labour
  • Strong knowledge of commercial reporting and forecasting
  • Excellent Excel and general IT skills
  • Able to work independently, while supporting and mentoring others where needed
