Job description

Buxton Nursery Ltd are looking to employ a happy, smiley, and hardworking individual who is committed and passionate about supporting and supervising babies and children. Skills required include: excellent communication skills, working as part of a team, good use of initiative, being empathetic and understanding. The suitable candidate will need to complete various training relevant to the post, including first aid, safeguarding, and food hygiene. An enhanced DBS check is required. Buxton Nursery Ltd are committed to promoting the welfare of children, and all staff must understand and follow our child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures. This is an annual position, and the successful candidate must be able to work all year round, excluding the nursery closure at Christmas and bank holidays. A Level 3 qualification is essential, and a full clean driving license is desirable.

Purpose of the post:
• To provide high standards of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.
• To ensure all children are safeguarded, and their welfare and safety are promoted.
• To support other team members throughout the nursery.
• To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment where children can play, learn, and develop.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Operate a program of activities tailored to each child's needs and interests.
• Keep records of children’s development and learning journeys and share these with parents and carers.
• Follow nursery safeguarding procedures to ensure children’s safety.
• Report concerns and record on Edukey.
• Support staff and engage in team activities.
• Liaise with and support parents and family members.
• Participate in out-of-hours activities such as training, staff meetings, parents' evenings, and fundraising.
• Be flexible and assist with domestic tasks within the nursery, such as preparing snacks and cleaning equipment.
• Work with the Manager and staff to fulfill the nursery’s philosophy.
• Read and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
• Record accidents on Famly.
• Be aware of individual children's needs and how to best support them.
• Ensure children are collected by known and approved persons.
• Respect confidentiality of information received.

Specific childcare tasks:
• Prepare and carry out activities suitable for each child's development stage.
• Develop your role within the team, especially as a key person.
• Ensure meal times are pleasant social occasions.
• Assist with washing and changing children.
• Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
• Calm and care for poorly children and notify management immediately.
• Maintain strong communication with parents/carers.
• Provide a high-quality environment accommodating children with disabilities, medical needs, or from diverse backgrounds.
• Uphold the nursery’s standards both during and outside working hours.
