Job summary

Newmarket Equine Hospital seeks a registered equine veterinary nurse to join its hospital team. The role offers exposure to a large, varied caseload with rotations through theatre, intensive care, in-patient care, diagnostic investigations, standing surgery, dispensary and pharmacy.

Applicants should be RCVS-qualified, registered as an equine veterinary nurse, and experienced with horses. Weekend work and out-of-hours on-call rota are required. Full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• RCVS qualification in Veterinary Nursing
• Registered with the RCVS as an equine veterinary nurse
• Experience in handling and working around a variety of horses

Responsibilities

• In-patient care including bandaging, treatments and checks
• Place intra-venous catheters
• Provide intensive care assistance and theatre support as circulating/scrub nurse
• Assist with intra-operative radiography and standing surgery

Skills

RCVS qualified in Veterinary Nursing

Registered with the RCVS as an equineV

Experienced with horses

Education

Job description

Due to continued expansion of Newmarket Equine Hospital, we are seeking to recruit a registered equine veterinary nurse to join our enthusiastic and highly motivated hospital team. Based within our world class facility, this position provides the opportunity for exposure to a large and varied caseload, with rotations taking place through the following areas: theatre, intensive care, in-patient care, diagnostic investigation, standing surgery, dispensary and pharmacy.

The applicant should have outstanding attention to detail in performing all general nursing duties, including: in-patient care (bandaging, treatments, and checks), placing intra-venous catheters, intensive care assistance and theatre (circulating and scrub nurse, intra-operative radiography).

Applicants must be:

• RCVS qualified in Veterinary Nursing (further or higher education)
• Registered with the RCVS as an equine veterinary nurse
• Experienced in handling and working around a variety of horses

Some weekend work will be required and you will be expected to participate in the out of hours on-call rota.

Due to our location, a full UK Drivers Licence is required.
