Job summary

Newmarket Equine Hospital in Newmarket, Suffolk, is seeking an experienced Equine Anaesthetist to lead a busy anaesthesia service with a diverse caseload from routine procedures to complex emergencies. You will develop protocols, train interns, and participate in hospital rounds and continuing education.

Qualifications

• Diplomates of ECVAA/ACVAA or equivalent qualification.
• Residency-trained or board-eligible applicants considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthesia and analgesia for a broad surgical and diagnostic caseload.
• Develop and tailor anaesthetic protocols for individual patients.
• Offer anaesthesia training and ongoing support to junior surgeons.
• Participate in out-of-hours and emergency rota.
• Engage in rounds, case discussions and continuing education.
• Help maintain clinical standards and hospital protocols.

Join one of the UK’s leading independent equine referral hospitals and help deliver outstanding specialist-led care to horses from across the UK and internationally.

Newmarket Equine Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Equine Anaesthetist to join our multidisciplinary team of hospital specialists. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic clinician to lead a busy equine anaesthesia service, with a diverse caseload ranging from routine elective procedures to complex and emergency referral surgeries.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

• Provision of anaesthesia and analgesia for a broad range of surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Develop and implement anaesthetic and analgesic protocols tailored to individual patients and procedures.
• Provide anaesthesia training and ongoing support to our team of intern veterinary surgeons
• Participation in the hospital out-of-hours and emergency rota.
• Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, and continuing education activities.
• Help maintain and develop clinical standards and hospital protocols.

About You

• Diplomates of the European or American Colleges of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA/ACVAA) or hold an equivalent recognised qualification.
