Purpose of Role:
This role will be key in delivering high quality engagement with children supporting their developmental needs, whilst ensuring the highest levels of supervision are maintained. You must support and maintain our Keeping Everyone Safe policies and procedures and continuously demonstrate and adhere to safe working practices.
Support the observation and assessment standards in line with the regulatory requirements and Bright Beginnings, Bright Horizons curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach. Working in partnership with parents to support the observation and planning process to meet the needs of all children in line with the Quality Assurance Framework. Work to ensure service excellence for our current and prospective customers, role modelling behaviour in line with our HEART principles and Bright Promise to deliver exceptional care and education.
Additionally, this role will work with the room leader and Early Childhood Specialists to drive continuous improvement, embed inspirational early years pedagogy, and secure regulatory compliance with better than National Average inspection outcomes in the UK.
You will support in sharing and articulating the attributes of the Bright Horizons brand, securing Bright Horizons as the provider of choice for families, corporate clients, and employees.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Deliver the highest care and education standards, ensuring knowledge of Policies, Procedures, child development, EYFS, Bright Beginnings curriculum, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and legislation from governing bodies, demonstrating high standards of practice.
- Support the delivery of the Bright Beginnings, Bright Horizons curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach, supporting observation and planning processes in line with the Quality Assurance Framework.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including parents, professionals, and colleagues.
- Ensure safety policies are followed and demonstrate behaviours that underpin a high-performing safety culture.
- Work collaboratively to complete essential daily tasks, including hygiene standards and room preparation.
- Understand referral processes and engage with professionals to support child referrals.
- Promote and support charities, including the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.
- Participate in staff meetings and training for ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and follow behaviour management guidelines, supporting children in managing their feelings.
- Ensure children are supervised and safe, leading by example in safeguarding practices.
- Communicate clearly and partner effectively with team members to meet children's needs.
- Manage staff deployment and child supervision efficiently according to policies and standards.
- Support meal times with high supervision, adhering to policies.
- Conduct risk assessments to ensure safety and address hazards.
- Implement safeguarding policies and complete Child Protection training biennially.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain expertise.
- Deliver high-quality early childhood experiences, supporting children with SEN/D and embedding the curriculum.
- Support record keeping, assessments, and the key person approach to meet developmental milestones.
- Assist colleagues and participate in meetings and training.
- Maintain hygiene standards and prepare rooms as required.
- Possess a sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
Qualifications:
- Full and relevant Level 3 or above childcare qualification (Essential)
- 12-hour Paediatric First Aid certificate (can be completed during induction)
- Food Hygiene or equivalent training (can be completed during induction)
- Safeguarding/Child Protection training, with willingness to update regularly
