Job description

The Reynard Surgery are looking to welcome a part time qualified dispenser for 25.5 hrs per week, into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of small and friendly multi-disciplinary team. You will need to be flexible and able to cover sickness and holidays. If you are an experienced dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job
  • Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme.
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor.
  • Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
  • Process hospital letters.
  • Manage ordering stock and stock control.
  • Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries.
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

The Reynard Surgery is a busy rural dispensing practice caring for 10k patients over a large sprawling area of forest heath. Our aim is to improve health, wellbeing and lives of all those we care for, by developing and maintaining the highest level of practice, which is safe, effective, compassionate and inclusive, and responsive to patient needs and expectations.

We are part of The Forest Heath PCN which cares for approx. 72k patients. We have a multi-disciplinary team consisting of doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, practice nurses, a HCA and a large admin team working closely together for the best patient outcomes.

Person Specification
Experience
  • At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience.
  • Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
  • Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting.
  • The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career.
  • The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making.
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach.
  • Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • You will have at least a Diploma/ NVQ Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification.
