Job Overview
Applications are invited from State Registered Biomedical Scientists with substantial experience in Clinical Chemistry. Candidates should possess sound scientific and technical knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. The department is UKAS accredited, serving a population of around 410,000, providing comprehensive analytical services with approximately 6 million tests annually. The lab moved to a new state-of-the-art facility in 2013, equipped with modern analyzers and automated systems.
Consideration may be given to newly registered Biomedical Scientists or students nearing registration with Clinical Chemistry experience.
Role Responsibilities
Biomedical Scientists analyze samples to assist in diagnosis and disease monitoring, using automated, semi-automated, and manual techniques. Tests include blood, serum, plasma, urine, biological fluids, and stones. Investigations include liver, bone, endocrine, sweat, therapeutic drug, diabetes, and tumor marker tests.
The post holder will perform delegated tasks within a team, rotating through various diagnostic sections, maintaining up-to-date knowledge, and working autonomously during out-of-hours shifts following competency assessment.
