Qualifications

How you make a difference

The Qualified Addiction Specialist delivers impactful substance use services, including assessments, treatment, and recovery support for individuals with co-occurring diagnoses. This role ensures seamless integration of substance use services with ongoing mental health and medical care by collaborating with multi-disciplinary clinicians and maintaining open communication. Additionally, the specialist tracks program participation and shares insights with administrative and supervisory teams. Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Assesses and diagnoses individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Education and Counseling: Develops and provides alcohol and other drug education programs and counseling services.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with employees providing medical and detoxification services to ensure effective follow-up.
  • Treatment Planning: Contributes to treatment plans, discharge planning, treatment continuity, and aftercare plans.
  • Training and Reporting: Provides training and consultation to employees on substance use disorders and prepares required reports.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Required: MD, DO, PA or APRN from an accredited university.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Two (2) years of clinical experience in addictions.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Required: Current licensure as a physician in the state of practice.
  • Required: Board certified or eligible in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry.
  • Required: Current DEA certification.
