Can you help us support, inspire and shape children and young people across the North East?

Who we are…

Prosperos CES Team specialise in providing bespoke education packages for children and young people across the North East.

Many children with SEND have been disengaged with their learning. We support pupils who have struggled to stay in the classroom, feel too anxious to go to school, or whose needs aren’t sufficiently supported at school.

We are looking for compassionate and resilient tutors around Northumberland and Newcastle who can inspire young people to see the value in education again.

Your role…

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you must be able to create, plan, and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupils' education and boost attainment levels.

You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way. Your aims will include:

• Supporting and re-engaging pupils in their learning
• Offering structure back into their daily routine
• Continuing their educational development
• Facilitating their return to school

The tuition replaces school for these young people and is normally part-time, during school hours, five days a week. Prospero will work closely with you to monitor each pupil’s progress through weekly reports.

Contract/Position Details:

• Location: Various locations across Northumberland (we will keep you local)
• Position: SEND Specialist Tutor
• Start date: 26/02/2024
• Duration: Until the pupil is able to reintegrate into a mainstream or special school
• Contract type: Temporary, full-time or part-time (minimum 10 hours per week per student)
• Pay: GBP25 – GBP30 per hour
• Hours: Flexible, depending on family schedules

Experience, Training, and Qualifications:

• QTS or equivalent
• UK classroom teaching experience
• PECS/Makaton training preferred but not essential
• Creative, patient, and willing to think outside the box
• Experience working with challenging behavior and disengaged pupils

Eligibility:

• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service or willingness to apply
• Two professional child-related references
