Overview

QHSE Station Support Manager – Regional

Location: Hybrid: This role can be based anywhere within the South region (travel will be expected within the role)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

The QHSE Station Support Manager is a key leader to drive the Zero incident and a Zero waste culture within the region, including assurance that operational QHSE delivery is in accordance with the industry’s and Swissport’s global quality, safety & environment management systems and standards.

The QHSE Regional Support Manager supports and provides guidance to the stations within their region supporting stations to achieve the QHSE objectives, to develop the desired QHSE culture and to continuously improve our QHSE performance towards our goal of Zero incidents and Zero waste.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are associated with this job role:

  1. Proactively business partner with the station GM and the operational management in the airport/station with regards to QHSE related topics.
  2. Be the station point of contact and reference for QHSE for all Swissport managers in the respective region.
  3. Lead, drive and continuously improve Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental measures and KPIs related to people, equipment, facilities, and aircraft involved in the operation.
  4. Ensure the region operates with the “Just Culture” as part of its core values.
  5. Deliver regular QHSE performance reports to management.
  6. Act as a Change Agent, coach, and advisor for the local management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  7. Drive continuous improvement in QHSE areas and lead cultural change towards Zero Incident and Zero Waste mindsets.
  8. Build a sustainable QHSE commitment, awareness, knowledge, behaviors, and engagement among regional management and employees.
  9. Ensure high qualifications, skills, and competencies within the QHSE management team, identifying areas for improvement.
  10. Plan, prepare, and conduct internal safety audits, initiate and monitor corrective actions, and carry out investigations on occurrences.
  11. Maintain an operational risk register and ensure legal compliance per country.
  12. Participate in global expert groups.
  13. Lead, evaluate, and develop a high-performing team to meet business objectives and comply with regulations.
  14. Communicate effectively across all levels and align the organization with a shared vision.
  15. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to meet business targets.
  16. Align with Swissport’s global QHSE strategies and develop the regional QHSE roadmap and action plans.
  17. Ensure the effective implementation and continual improvement of Swissport’s QHSE management system within the region.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of regional/country-specific laws and regulations related to QHSE.
  • Experience in plant, motor workshop, logistics, or cargo warehouse is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven track record in implementing QHSE systems and behavioral safety programs.
  • Experience with ISO/OHSAS management systems; certification as an auditor is desirable.
  • Ability to adapt to change and lead by example.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Promote flexibility, adaptability, and a sense of urgency for continuous improvement.
  • High personal and professional integrity.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within and outside the geographic QHSE region.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of motivating at all levels.
