We are a busy manufacturing company based in Ludlow, Shropshire supplying numerous steel products into a variety of market sectors. We are looking for a competent and responsible Health & Safety and Compliance Executive to join our team. This is a key role that supports the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations. Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, are essential for this role.
Role Overview
The Health & Safety/Compliance Executive will report directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for maintaining health and safety standards, managing compliance to ISO9001 & ISO45001, and supporting HR-related administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in health and safety administration, with a focus on compliance, and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Liaise with our external H&S consultants on matters as and when required.
- Monitor and update risk assessments to ensure full compliance with regulations.
- Maintain records of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- Organise health and safety training for staff and management.
- Support regular safety audits and inspections to ensure safety protocols are effective.
- Assist in investigating health and safety incidents, compiling reports, and making recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of health and safety activities, including training logs and audit results.
- Help manage PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) distribution and stock levels.
- Support the development of safety awareness programs and initiatives.
Compliance
- Develop and maintain our ISO9001 & ISO45001 management system.
- Conduct internal audits as required.
- Liaise with clients over quality issues and develop quality control improvements.
- Liaise with Citation our external ISO certification advisers.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in health & safety & management system compliance in particular ISO9001 & ISO45001
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Keen attention to detail and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
- NEBOSH Certificate preferred however, for the right candidate formal training would be provided.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £15.50 per hour to start depending on experience
Expected hours: 42 per week Mon-Fri
