Job description

We re looking for a driven and professional QHSE Manager to lead quality, health, safety, and environmental standards throughout an engineering organisation based on the north side of Ipswich. You ll take ownership of compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement ensuring systems are up to date, risks are well managed, and teams stay aligned with both legal requirements and business goals.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, working closely with senior leadership and staff at all levels to embed a proactive QHSE culture.

What You ll Do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of QHSE policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation and industry standards
  • Drive risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions
  • Oversee emergency planning and incident investigations
  • Monitor and report on QHSE performance metrics
  • Deliver training and awareness programmes
  • Be the main point of contact for enforcement bodies and certification audits
  • Support safe equipment selection and user competency

About You:

You re someone with high personal integrity who brings clarity, confidence, and calm to a fast-paced operational environment. Independent and self-starting, you re comfortable working with limited supervision, yet able to build strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at every level.

You understand how to balance business pressures while keeping QHSE compliance front and centre.

You ll bring:

  • Relevant QHSE experience ideally from manufacturing, engineering or a similar environment
  • A recognised qualification in QHSE or a related field (degree-level preferred)
  • Professional certifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH); lead auditor status is a plus
  • A practical understanding of legal compliance and operational safety
  • Strong communication, influencing and risk assessment skills
