Quality Control Supervisor at PPG Architectural Coatings UK Limited in Birstall.
Job Purpose:
To ensure all incoming Raw Materials, Intermediates and Finished Products meet the pre-set specification in a timely manner by the efficient management of Quality Control Technicians and Senior Technicians.
To be responsible for the Supervision of a specific QC Department to ensure Raw Materials, Intermediates and finished Products all comply with the Quality Standards Specified in accordance with the companies ISO 9001 quality Management system.
Dimensions:
- Responsible for the Quality Control of all batches of Raw Materials, Manufactured Intermediates and Finished Products within the specified QC laboratory.
- Ensure all raw materials/Intermediate and finished products are measured using prescribed Technical department standard operating procedures and Standard Test Methods.
- Ensure the Reporting of all results/findings are made in an accurate and concise manner.
- Establish corrective actions that may be required for non conforming products.
- Make direct corrections to Production batches using the Integrated Process Control and management system (Datastor).
- Make final acceptance decision on 1.7 million lts weekly production.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Ensure that sufficient Quality Control staff are present for the requirements of the QC function to cover factory-working hours, including weekends.
- Ensure any non-conformance to specification is recorded and corrective action to achieve specification is undertaken and reported in a constructive and timely manner.
- Ensure that all batches of incoming Raw Materials, Problem intermediates, Materials on hold, Manufactured Intermediates and Finished Products are examined and tested to the Specifications quoted.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:
- Minimum degree in Chemistry or associated discipline.
- Minimum 5 years in Paint or Associated industry, ideally in a Supervisory position or in possession of a suitable management qualification.
- Must attain BPI Accelerator status.
- Must have normal colour vision and good aptitude for colour evaluation.
- Have an expansive working knowledge of Paint Technology and Manufacturing Methods.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Overtime may be required to cover Production outside normal working hours.
