Job description

Shift QC Chemist

Accrington, Lancashire (commutable from North Manchester, Preston, and surrounding areas)

Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 + shift allowance

Type: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week, shift pattern based on 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am rolling rota, 5 days a week

Additional requirements: A driver's licence with access to a car is likely needed as the site is difficult to access by public transport.

SRG is working with a global manufacturer of industrial speciality chemicals, currently looking to expand their QC team to support 24/7 manufacturing. The role is suitable for candidates with a background in chemistry laboratory work, from university projects or equivalent industry experience. Applications are encouraged from graduates or early-career chemists. Training in laboratory techniques will be provided.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical chemistry testing of raw materials to ensure quality and suitability
  • Maintain laboratory databases and keep accurate records of results
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Maintain general laboratory housekeeping

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry or A-level Chemistry with laboratory experience
  • Recent hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as liquid and gas chromatography, viscometry, FTIR
  • Willing to work a rotating shift pattern
  • Driver's licence and access to a vehicle
  • Legal right to work in the UK
