The Quality Control Microbiologist, will form an integral part in the day to day running of the Quality Control Laboratory, ensuring the efficient testing of Neogen's Culture Media product range. This will include assisting with the day to day completion of all laboratory tasks, records and retained samples in compliance within Quality Systems.

Neogen specialises in solutions for animal and food safety offering a diverse range of products and services for the agriculture, food, and Industrial sectors; dairy, building, utilities, infrastructure and automotive. The Quality Control Role is within the Food Safety Sector of the business, and is the handling of the Neogen Culture Media portfolio products.

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare culture media in accordance with standard practices. Perform growth promotion, sterility, pH, and physical testing on products manufactured onsite. Including Dehydrated culture media, Pre-prepared culture media plates and Culture media supplements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all testing activities.
  • Prepare and handle microbial reference strains for use in growth promotion and suitability testing.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Interpret test data and raise non-conformances in the event of deviations or failures.
  • Support investigation of non-conformances.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practices
  • Laboratory housekeeping - cleaning, organising, and maintenance tasks performed to keep a laboratory safe, clean, and efficient.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Following testing methods compliant to external standards (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 13485).

About you:

  • You will ideally have a science related degree in relevant or equivalent laboratory experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient on the computer.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced laboratory environment with exposure to biological and chemical materials. Whilst following Health and Safety practices.
