Job Title: 2nd Shift QC Inspector for Plastic Molding
Location: Oxford, CT
Job Summary:
The QC Inspector for Plastic Molding is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of plastic molded products through rigorous inspection and testing processes. This role involves performing visual, dimensional, and functional checks to ensure products meet specifications and industry standards. The QC Inspector will work closely with production teams to identify quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect Plastic Molding Products: Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of molded plastic parts, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
- Conduct Testing: Use appropriate measuring instruments and testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.) to verify the accuracy of molded parts.
- Document and Record Findings: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and any non-conformances. Report issues to the Quality Control Manager or relevant personnel.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with the production team to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain Inspection Equipment: Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are calibrated and in good working condition.
- Quality Audits: Conduct regular quality audits and support internal and customer audits as required.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure all products meet industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering, production, and management teams to maintain consistent quality across manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience (1-3 years) in quality control or inspection in a plastic molding or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of plastic molding processes and standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM)
- Familiarity with inspection tools and testing procedures
- Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of quality control software (e.g., SPC) is a plus
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs
- Work in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels
- Full-time position with scheduled hours (to be specified)
- Occasional overtime based on production needs
- Work environment includes exposure to plastics and other materials
