Job Summary

To ensure pre-production raw materials and production product* meet specifications and are of acceptable quality.

* in-process or finished product testing performed by QC is an independent verification of specified inspections and/or tests that are in addition to online testing performed by production staff during the production process.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Production:

  • Testing production product in accordance with specified procedures or sampling plans. Document inspection and test results.
  • Approve production product by confirming acceptance to specification.
  • Reject and disposition of production product not meeting specification.
  • Liaise with QA & Production on issues found during product testing.
  • Assist in resolving quality-related issues in a timely manner and support implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure test methods comply with applicable consensus standards and that test methods are validated where required.
  • Ability to grow up and work in a cleanroom environment as required.
  • Prepare reports, present results and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Maintain storage and handling of medicinal substances such as antibiotics and antifungals in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Provide QC input for Research & Development testing, data analysis and interpretation.

- Pre-Production:

  • Inspect pre-production raw materials in accordance with specified sampling plans.
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming acceptance to specification.
  • Reject and disposition materials not meeting specification.
  • Ensure inspection and sampling activities are planned adequately to minimise delay of material availability for production.
  • Liaise with QA/QC, and Warehouse & Transport Manager on issues found during material inspection.
  • Assist in resolving quality-related issues in a timely manner and support implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Essential qualifications

  • Level 6 degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline or relevant experience
  • 3+ years’ of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment or test laboratory
  • Working knowledge of inspection or laboratory techniques or product testing
  • Organisational skills and an ability to work to tight timelines
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • Car driver

Desirable qualifications

  • Any quality/inspection/testing/microbiology related training
  • Worked within healthcare (medical devices/pharmaceutical) or food
  • Understanding of quality control within a manufacturing environment
  • Able to act on own initiative
