Job summary
A leading company in the Oil, Gas, and Renewables sector is seeking a QC Inspector to ensure the quality of goods and spools meet all specifications. The role involves extensive inspection and testing, along with formal reporting duties, and requires a background in engineering. Candidates should have a strong understanding of quality control principles and be proficient in using various testing equipment.
Qualifications
- Completion of QC inspections for spools, welding, and parts.
- Engineering Apprenticeship in technical discipline is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform QC inspections and testing activities on-site and off-site.
- Complete reports, weld logs, and manage calibration registers.
Skills
Knowledge of Quality Control Principles

Main Function Of Job
- The QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring quality of goods / spools meet all quality requirements. Carrying out inspection & testing on behalf of the quality dept. Completing inspections in-line with L&N project team deadlines
Main Duties
- QC Inspection of spools, welding & parts
- Dimensional inspection (Manual / Digital)
- Weld Monitoring - Verify Weld Procedures & Parameters Used / Verification of data logs
- Visual & Borescope Inspection of welds (including Witness)
- Inspection Testing Activities on and off site (including Visual, Ferrite, PMI, Hardness & DPI)
- Final Inspection (Coatings / Spools / Flange faces / parts)
- Formulation and checking of Reports / Weld Logs / MRB’s / NDT reports, etc
- Raising NCR’s
- Maintaining Calibration Register / QC equipment
Qualifications/Education
- Engineering Apprenticeship
- Higher National Certificate – Engineering discipline
Competencies
- Knowledge of Quality Control Principles
- Practical knowledge in the use of measuring / testing equipment
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office package
- Computer literacy
Specialist Training Required
- Visual Inspection (E.g. C-Swip 3.0 / 3.1)
- Various inspection equipment including: PMI, Ferrite-scope, Hardness Tester
- Non Destructive Testing – DPI, MPI, RT Interp
