Job description

Job summary: We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic quality professional to join our Pharmacy Quality Assurance team as QA and QC officer. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to contribute to our renowned quality assurance services.

The Pharmacy service is highly regarded within the Trust and has 300 staff members. Investment in facilities includes robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal development and further postgraduate education.

You will be expected to work with a team of quality professionals to provide a high quality service to internal and external service users.

Main duties of the job

As an integral member of the Pharmacy QA Team, you will need to demonstrate knowledge of microbiology and chemistry and apply it to quality assurance in a fast-paced environment. The Postholder will be required to be a releasing officer for batches manufactured under the Trust's MHRA 'Specials' license. Previous experience in performing batch release is preferable; however, training will be available for a suitable candidate.

The position requires that you have a degree in pharmaceutical science, pharmacy or other relevant scientific subject. You should possess excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate that you can work in a team. You must have initiative, be forward thinking and have excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Degree in pharmaceutical science, pharmacy or other relevant scientific subject

Experience

  • Experience working in a Quality Assurance department
  • Experience working in a Microbiology or Chemistry laboratory
  • Experience of performing environmental monitoring
  • Knowledge of COSHH and health and safety at work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current GMP and Quality Systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical microbiology
  • Experience of writing reports

Skills

  • Demonstrate ability to identify problems, analyse root cause and propose solution for complex problems
  • Ability to collate and review scientific data and produce comprehensive summary reports
  • Able to communicate effectively with all healthcare professionals and colleagues
  • Able to improve service quality at operational level

  • Able to manage non compliances and incidents and develop and review action plans to resolve them
  • Able to prepare and complete documentation accurately with attention to detail, even when under pressure
