Position at SUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD.

QA Operator (Cable Testing Operator)

[Particularities of this position]

• This position will require long-term skill training after joining us.
• The training will be a maximum of 6 months in our mother factory in Japan.
• The salary package will initially be an annual salary, but once the new facility is operational, the salary structure will be based on work shifts.

Role Purpose

Carrying out cable tests and providing education for other operators.

Creating plans, instructions, and documentation for tests.

Key Accountabilities

• Setting up test equipment and systems for testing.
• Carrying out tests.
• Ensuring accuracy of testing equipment.
• Planning, instructing, and documenting tests (electrical & physical characteristics, outer inspection, etc.).
• Creating test records, checking records, and evaluating results.
• Preparing and documenting testing (inspection) reports.
• Attending to external calibration and testing activities.
• Monitoring the calibration status of test equipment.
• Assessing calibration plans of test equipment.
• Regularly monitoring the condition of test equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Documenting test procedures with engineers.
• Following safety rules and creating safety measures for specific areas.

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience

About Our Project in Port of Nigg, Highland

Sumitomo Electric is a leading global manufacturer of high-end electricity transmission cables, up to 525kV HVDC.
