We are looking for a QA Lead to work for a growing organisation in process of technology change. The QA Lead will lead the quality assurance efforts to ensure that the company’s products meet the highest quality standards. This role is responsible for developing and implementing the QA strategy, managing the test management lifecycle, and overseeing the recruitment and development of a high-performing QA team. The QA Lead will also collaborate with product and development teams to review user stories, define acceptance criteria, and ensure that testing aligns with business requirements.

This is a remote role but you must be based in the UK. You will be either British Citizen or ILR due to clearances you are required to go through

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy, including test plans, frameworks, and automation practices, to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
* Set clear quality goals and KPIs, ensuring that testing processes contribute to the overall product development and business objectives.
* Drive continuous improvement in QA practices and processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency, automation, and quality enhancement.
* Define and implement risk-based testing strategies to focus efforts on areas of high impact and complexity.

* Lead the end-to-end test management process, including test planning, test execution, defect management, and reporting.
* Oversee the development and execution of functional, regression, integration, and performance testing to ensure complete product validation.
* Work closely with the development team to understand code changes, review feature specifications, and ensure thorough test coverage.
* Maintain test environments, ensuring all required resources are available for testing, including test data and automation frameworks.

Review User Stories & Define Acceptance Criteria:

* Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and developers to review user stories and ensure that they are well-defined and aligned with business goals.
* Lead discussions to define clear and comprehensive acceptance criteria for each user story, ensuring they are testable and meet user expectations.
* Identify edge cases, functional requirements, and potential risks during story review to improve test coverage and the overall quality of the product.
* Ensure that acceptance criteria are clearly communicated to the development and QA teams, with all involved parties understanding what needs to be tested and validated.
* Collaborate with Tech leads to offer potential implementation options for each of the acceptance criteria.

Automation and Tooling:

* Drive the adoption and maintenance of test automation strategies to improve testing efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
* Evaluate and recommend QA tools for automation, test management, defect tracking, and reporting that will best support team needs and project requirements.
* Manage the automation framework and ensure that automated tests are maintained, scalable, and integrated into continuous integration pipelines.

Reporting and Metrics:

* Track and report on the quality and testing progress using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as test case execution, defect density, and test coverage.
* Provide regular reports to senior management on testing status, risks, and quality improvements.
* Use data and insights from testing metrics to drive process improvements and to ensure product quality aligns with customer expectations.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Experience:

* Proven experience (5+ years) in quality assurance, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
* Extensive experience in developing and executing QA strategies for complex software applications.
* Strong experience in test management, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
* Experience working with Agile development processes (Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
* Experience in leading and mentoring QA teams, with a strong focus on team building, motivation, and development.

Skills Required:

* Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, best practices, and testing methodologies.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with senior leadership.
