Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking a QA Laboratory and Insectary Technician to join the Translational Research and Training Facility at Silwood Park. The role combines quality assurance responsibilities with hands-on work in a fully regulated translational environment, including maintaining the QMS and supporting mosquito colony operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a QA role within a regulated translational research environment.
• Experience enabling quality systems, document control, SOP development, audits, deviations and CAPAs.
• Knowledge of laboratory and insectary operations, including mosquito colony maintenance.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction and PCR) is desirable.
• Strong record-keeping, health and biosafety awareness, and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation, maintenance and improvement of quality systems across the TRTF.
• Manage document control, SOP development, audit preparation, deviations and CAPAs.
• Support training records, staff guidance on quality processes and quality records.
• Contribute to laboratory and insectary operations, including mosquito colony maintenance and routine procedures.
• Assist with molecular biology activities: DNA extraction and PCR.
• Ensure accurate, traceable records; prepare reagents and consumables; assist equipment management and maintenance.
• Uphold health, safety, biosafety and containment standards; participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the role :

We are seeking to appoint a QA Laboratory and Insectary Technician to join the Translational Research and Training Facility (TRTF) at Imperial College London's Silwood Park Campus. The TRTF is a £5m state-of-the-art facility supporting the Target Malaria programme, an international not-for-profit research consortium developing innovative genetic technologies to help reduce malaria transmission. This unique role combines Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities with hands-on laboratory and insectary activities within a highly regulated translational research environment. You will play an important role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System (QMS), while also contributing to laboratory and insectary operations, including work with wild-type and genetically modified mosquito colonies. Working closely with colleagues across quality, laboratory operations, insectary operations, biosafety, regulatory affairs & project management, you will help ensure that research activities are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance and scientific excellence.
