Job summary

McCormick & Company is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead the analytical testing lab for microbiological and chemical assays. You will supervise technicians, manage resources and the lab budget, and ensure accurate data reporting with compliant records.

Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement, support external audits, and ensure all activities align with ISO/IEC 17025 and safety standards. A related bachelor's degree and 3+ years in a food/testing lab are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in a food/feed laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and good laboratory practices.
• ISO/EC 17025 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of analytical testing (microbiological & chemical).
• Supervise laboratory technicians and ensure testing quality.
• Manage day-to-day testing, efficiency, and results.
• Plan and manage lab resources per business plan.
• Ensure data interpretation, reporting, and record maintenance.
• Drive routine problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Serve as resource during external audits by regulators.
• Manage the lab's operational budget.
• Lead laboratory programs and calibration of instruments.
• Maintain reference standards and equipment upkeep.
• Lead proficiency testing and improve efficiency.
• Translate and implement local procedures from global standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, GLP, and ISO/IEC17025.
• Support cross-functional lab projects and cost-reduction efforts.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of raw material, in-process, and finished product analytical testing (microbiological and chemical) in compliance with requirements.
  • Supervise the work of laboratory technicians.
  • Manage the day-to-day testing, the efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory testing, and the results.
  • Plan and manage laboratory resources as per the business plan (e.g., manpower resources, chemical reagents, media, testing equipment, etc.).
  • Ensure the interpretation, reporting of data, and maintenance of records are documented and effectively implemented. Includes the use of statistical analysis where appropriate.
  • Execute a program of routine problem resolution and continuous improvement for the lab.
  • Serve as a resource during external audits by regulatory agencies or other third parties.
  • Manage the analytical lab's operational budget.
• Lead the laboratory's mandatory program.
  • Ensure the calibration of analytical instruments, the use of analytical reference standards, and the maintenance of the equipment are established and followed for all laboratory requirements.
  • Lead the lab proficiency testing program and ensure efficiency.
  • Written local lab procedures and translate corporate global methods and published international standards into the local language as required.
  • Execute the laboratory work and program to meet all applicable regulations (e.g., safety, good laboratory, MOPH, etc.) and ISO/IEC17025 principles in chemical and microbiological labs.
• Lab project / Cross functional project support and development
  • Support, consult and develop in term of chemical or microbiological laboratory.
  • Support, consult and develop in term of cost reduction project

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Education and Discipline Bachelor's Degree in Microbiological, Chemical, or related field.
• Minimum Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years-experience working in a food/feed laboratory
  • Knowledge of the ISO 17025 standard and good laboratory practices
• Certifications and/or Licenses
