QA Engineer (Datawarehousing)

Edinburgh – Hybrid – 3 days on-site per week

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse QA Engineer to join a leading UK customer-centric business. You will work within a centralized data team, collaborating closely with Data Engineers. Your role involves understanding complex data flows, both business and technical requirements, to develop ETL/ELT reconciliation scenarios and ensure comprehensive testing of features.

The role

• Focus on quality assurance by supporting the team in sourcing, developing, and maintaining reliable data reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making. Enhance existing SQL/ETL test automation processes where possible.
• Apply quality engineering principles from early design stages through to production. Review acceptance criteria, execute tests, and collaborate with business users for sign-off. Maintain SQL-based testing documentation.

What you will bring

• Expertise with Oracle and Postgres databases and Data Warehousing.
• Experience in ETL/MI data testing.
• Advanced SQL skills for data reconciliation and validation of business rules.
• Proficiency with querying tools such as SQL Developer, Snowflake, PostgreSQL/DBeaver.
• Hands-on experience with delivering reconciled facts and dimensions, and accurate reporting.
• Understanding of Data Warehouse design, including star schema and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with reporting tools like OAS and report validation.
• Experience with ETL tools such as ODI.
• Knowledge of data replication tools like GoldenGate and DMS.
• Desirable: Python scripting skills.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and automation in Data Warehouse testing.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage testing activities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across business levels.
