Job summary

Aflac Northern Ireland is seeking a talented software QA engineer to join one of our engineering teams in Belfast. The role focuses on functional, workflow, and end-to-end testing of customer-facing solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation and quality.

You will coach developers on defensive coding, participate in example mapping sessions, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to improve release quality and speed. 5+ years' IT experience and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT experience in client-server design/development.
• Experience with targeted test automation strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, maximising the different strengths across the team.
• Experience with Robot Framework and Playwright (Browser Library) preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Functional, workflow, and end-to-end testing of customer facing solutions. Including creation of automated tests where it makes sense.
• Provide best practice, shift-left coaching to developers to promote defensive coding habits.
• Facilitate example mapping sessions to help build complete picture of user story requirements.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.

Skills and experience

Essential

• 5+ years of IT experience in any client-server design/development
• Experience with targeted test automation strategies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well with in a team environment, maximising the different strengths across the team
• Key technology experience required for the role: any test automation tools, preferably Robot Framework with Playwright (Browser Library)

Desirable

• Experience with different types of Agile project delivery
• Experience testing non-functional requirements, specifically security, accessibility, and compatibility.
• Other valuable technologies: Java, REST-based API, object-oriented concepts, and GIT
